The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was introduced in the Social Security Act 1985 to assist people with disabilities. The National Disability Insurance Scheme is now a fully-fledged Australian State-funded program. It was established to help support disadvantaged people living with a physical, mental, sensory or cognitive disability to attain their potential in the workplace and contribute to their economic growth. The main objective of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is to promote self-sufficiency and employment by providing insurance and other assistance so that disabled people can pursue their potential in everyday life.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme provides tax-free benefits to eligible participants to live and work in the country. In qualifying for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the qualified person must be diagnosed with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits his/her capability to carry out daily life activities. Eligible participants must also undergo the necessary training to perform their qualified jobs.
Once you are approved for the National Disability Insurance Scheme by NDISPLANManager NDIS Plan management, you will receive a Benefit payment for up to six months. After that, your entitlement is extended until the end of the six months. In addition to the Federal governments, many private and non-profit organisations, such as businesses, universities and community organisations, have also been stepping forward to contribute to the scheme. As per a recent review by the Productivity Commission, most private sector organisations have made efforts to implement disability services in their workplace. Some of these private organisations have made special policies for working with people with disabilities, providing them with tailor-made policies that cover their specific needs and providing training to staff on the use of their products and services.
Apart from private sector interests, NDISPLANManager NDIS Plan management is also involved in implementing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Most states in Australia and the territories of New South Wales and Victoria have their plans in place. State governments’ plans generally follow the general recommendations of the Productivity Commission (PC) report released in 2009. In general, most of the state government’s plans seek to enhance the functional capacity of their population by implementing enhanced employment services, training programs, additional workforce training and career transition opportunities for people with disabilities, and providing them with access to improved healthcare and supportive services.
